How can I change the method of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for my account?

To change your two-factor authentication for your account:

• Open the account menu by selecting your name, then select Account.
• Under Security, select Account Password and Security (this opens Meta Accounts Center in a new tab).
• Select Set up two-factor authentication.
• If you want to choose a different phone number or a different Authentication app, then click on your current method, follow the on-screen instructions.
• If you want to choose an entirely different method:
• Choose your new method underneath Add a backup method.

  • You can add either Authentication app, Text message (SMS), or Security key as a backup authentication method, depending on your current chosen method.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions for your chosen option.
  • Once it's set up, you can delete the current primary method that you have.
