How do I change my account password?

These steps apply to accounts created with an email or mobile number. If you sign in with Continue with Facebook, Continue with Google, or Continue with GitHub, change your password with that provider instead. For managed accounts, follow your organization's process.

To change your password:

1. Open the account menu by selecting your name, then select Account.
2. Under Security, select Account Password and Security (this opens Meta Accounts Center in a new tab).
3. Select Change password.
4. Input your current password in the Current password box.
5. Input what you want your new password to be in the New password box.
6. Write your password again in the Re-type new password box.
7. Click Change password.

Your password must be at least 8 characters long. It must also include at least 1 each of the following:

• uppercase letter
• lowercase letter
• number
• special character.

If the password you entered doesn’t meet these criteria, an error message will explain why.
