What is the Playground?

The Playground is the interactive web UI for Meta Model API. It's where you try models hands-on — chat, attach files, define tools, and adjust settings — without writing any code. It's the fastest way to see how a model responds before you wire it into your app.

Open the Playground from the Playground item in the left nav of the Model API dashboard. You sign in with your Model API account; see How do I log in to my account? if you need to.

Across the top of the Playground you'll find:

• Chat: send prompts and get responses in a chat view.
• Compare: run the same prompt against more than one model side by side.
• Get code: turn your current setup into ready-to-run code.
• History: reopen your past conversations.

From here you can:

• Chat with a model and watch the response stream in.
• Adjust reasoning effort on reasoning-capable models.
• Define tools and see the model call them.
• Upload files such as images and PDFs and ask about their contents.
• Revisit past conversations.
• Choose a model and tune settings like temperature and system instructions.

When you're ready to build, use Get code or head to the Quickstart to make the same calls from your own code.
